Every Wednesday, on our Facebook page, The Sandwich Way brings you a powerful yet simple way to foster social-emotional learning (SEL) in your classroom or home—What Would You Do Wednesday! 🥪✨ But what exactly is it, and why should educators and parents make it part of their weekly routine?
Let’s explore how this engaging activity helps students think critically, build empathy, and develop responsible decision-making skills while creating a fun and interactive learning environment!
What is What Would You Do Wednesday?
Each Wednesday, we pose a real-life social scenario designed to spark meaningful discussions. These scenarios challenge kids to pause, reflect, and decide how they would respond, strengthening their self-awareness and social skills along the way.
🔹 Example Scenario: You see a friend being left out of a game at recess. You want to join in, but you also don’t want to make anyone uncomfortable. What would you do?
By thinking through situations like this, children practice problem-solving and learn the impact of their choices in a safe, supportive way.
Why Does This Matter?
Social-emotional learning is more than just a buzzword—it’s a crucial part of a child's academic success, relationships, and emotional well-being. Studies show that kids who engage in SEL-based activities demonstrate: ✅ Better decision-making skills
✅ Stronger conflict resolution abilities
✅ Increased empathy for others
✅ Greater classroom participation & cooperation
✅ Higher academic achievement
What Would You Do Wednesday empowers kids to think before they act, express emotions in a healthy way, and develop lifelong social skills.
